SCRATCHPAD PRIVACY
Your thoughts stay
on your Mac.
No data collection. No analytics. No tracking. Scratchpad does not collect personal data or send your note to us. You don’t need an account.
What the app saves
Scratchpad saves your note as a plain-text file inside its local app storage. It also saves your settings and keeps local recovery copies so you can recover a cleared note or a previous saved version.
What leaves your Mac
Scratchpad has no built-in cloud sync, advertising, tracking, or network communication. We cannot read your note.
If you copy text, it goes to the macOS clipboard. System features such as Universal Clipboard may share it with your other devices. Your own backup software may also back up Scratchpad’s files.
Keeping private information private
Scratchpad uses the macOS app sandbox. Your note is stored as plain text; the app is not an encrypted vault. Your Mac’s login, disk encryption, and backup settings help protect files on your device.
Deleting a note
Clear removes the current note, but a local recovery copy may remain so you can undo an accidental clear. Deleting the app alone may leave its local data or system backups behind. To remove all stored copies, delete Scratchpad’s app-container data and any copies in your backups.
App Store purchases
Apple handles purchases through the Mac App Store under its own privacy terms. Scratchpad does not process payment details.
Website language preference
The site uses your browser’s local storage to remember whether the SFW language filter is on or off. This preference stays in your browser and is not sent to us. We don’t use it for tracking or analytics.
